Design Condition is a blog that explores the relationship of high and low technologies in art and design.

The projects in this collection have one or more of the following characteristics:

  1. The use of computation to produce complex forms or systems, yet physically implemented in a low-tech manner.
  2. The use of low-tech mechanics to produce high-tech systems.
  3. The combination of high-tech and low-tech materials to create an object or experience.

The initial goal of this blog was to produce a physical object(s) that represents the collection. The physical manifestation of the initial collection can be seen here:  P h i l i p J e n k i n . c o m     Under “High-Tech / Low-Tech”

As a result of the initial experiment I have become very interested in the relationship between these to extremes, so check back for new additions to the collection……
